Clio Music Announces 2022 Award Winners at Live Ceremony Hosted by Yola

CLIO MUSIC ANNOUNCES 2022 AWARD WINNERS AT LIVE CEREMONY HOSTED BY YOLA

BBDO NY, Republic Records and Kobalt Music Publishing Receive Top Honors on Stage at the Mercy Lounge in Nashville, TN

Mary J. Blige and Jason Flom Accept Specialty Awards Alongside Performances by Breland, Lily Rose and More

NASHVILLE— (MAY 10, 2022) — Clio Music, the global competition celebrating the visceral power of music to connect consumers and brands, today announced the winners of the 2022 Clio Music awards. The program, which recognizes excellence in music marketing and the use of music in advertising across 27 mediums, awarded four Grand Clio Music trophies as well as an array of Gold, Silver and Bronze statues for a total of 260 awards granted to a mix of music publishers, labels, artists and agencies.

At a live ceremony hosted by Grammy-nominated artist Yola, the 2022 Clio Music Awards presented by Pepsi took place tonight at The Mercy Lounge in Nashville, TN and featured performances by Breland, Lily Rose and more.  Adam Harter, Senior Vice President, Media, Sports & Entertainment at PepsiCo was on hand to present the 2022 Clio Music Legend Award presented by Pepsi to Mary J Blige. In a virtual speech, Blige said: "I really, really am grateful for this award and I want to thank god for just always showering these blessings on me and taking me by surprise." Renowned media executive, author, and justice activist Jason Flom also took the stage to accept the 2022 Clio Music Impact Award for his work with The Innocence Project and numerous criminal justice reform organizations.

The Grand Clio Music Awards, the competition’s highest honor, were awarded to four pieces of work that the Clio Music jury selected as head and shoulders above the rest of the year’s submissions. These winners were announced on stage, with representatives from each entrant on hand to accept the award.

The 2022 Grand Clio Music Awards went to:

  • Film/Video: “Sonho” by AKQA & Stink Films for Nego Bala

  • Partnerships & Collaborations: “DojaCode” by RCA Records for Girls Who Code x Doja Cat

  • Social Good: “Teenage Dream” by BBDO NY for Sandy Hook Promise

  • Use of Music in Trailers/Teasers: “Made For Love Trailer” by Phoenician Order Music for HBO

Clio Music Awards were also given out on stage for Label of the Year, Music Publisher of the Year, and Agency of the Year.  These winners were determined by identifying the entrants with the most statue points earned for work submitted across all medium types. 

The 2022 Clio Music Of The Year Winners are:

  • Agency of the Year: BBDO NY

  • Label of the Year: Republic Records

  • Music Publisher of the Year: Kobalt Music Publishing

Additional highlights from the show included a segment featuring Katelyn Meola, Senior Brand Marketing Manager at Pepsi, who outlined the deeply rooted role music has played in Pepsi’s brand legacy. Rustom Dastoor, Senior Vice President Consumer Marketing, North America at Mastercard was also on hand to present the new Sonic Branding medium and give details on Mastercard’s own sonic branding initiatives.
